About Me

Devin Rafus

Devin handles a range of cases in state and federal court, including murder, gang cases, drug trafficking, conspiracy charges, and sex offenses.  Devin successfully got his client acquitted on his first trial out of law school.  He also has gotten murder charges dismissed and clients released the same day.  Devin has written federal sentencing memos which resulted in clients receiving zero prison time, and he has won forfeiture cases resulting in clients getting their money back that was seized by law enforcement.  He has also gotten dismissals on federal cases.

Not only does Devin passionately represent clients at the trial level, but he also practices criminal appellate work.  Less than one week after getting sworn in to practice law, Devin was arguing before the Supreme Court of Georgia on behalf of his clients.  Devin has also represented clients at every level of the appeals process.  He has successfully filed Compassionate Release motions which were able to get his clients released from federal prison early.  Devin has also won at the Georgia Court of Appeals which led to the dismissal of the case.

Devin Rafus is a Georgia native.  Devin attended Georgia State University and graduated with cum laude honors with a B.A. in Political Science and a minor in Economics.

Devin then went on to excel at the Georgia State University College of Law, where he graduated with cum laude honors.  While in law school, Devin was recognized for his pro bono work and earned a public service distinction from GSU.  After his first year, he clerked for Justice David Nahmias at the Georgia Supreme Court.  Devin was an active member of the Student Trial Lawyers Association, where his team won the 2017 William Daniel National Mock Trial Competition; he was also involved in Moot Court, where he competed in Jessup – the largest moot court competition in the world.  By his third year in law school, he was already representing domestic violence victims in Cobb County and prosecuting misdemeanors in Gwinnett County.

Devin continued to demonstrate his academic expertise when he was asked to help teach the law school’s Advocacy class.  Based on his advocacy skills, Devin received the STLA Advocacy Scholarship and was one of eight students to be inducted into the prestigious Order of Barristers.  He was also a pupil in the Logan E. Bleckley Inn of Court.  As an attorney, Devin has helped coach the students of the STLA Mock Trial team at GSU Law School.

Devin is married to Brittney Rafus, and they have one child together.  They enjoy watching movies, playing competitive sports, and hiking with their Great Dane, Ronan.
